GARMENT BAGS
We pack all of our garments in biodegradable bags. When you receive your order just remove the sticker labels from this bag and you can use it as a composting bag itself, or simply put it in your home compost bin along with your food scraps and green waste. These bags are certified home compostable and will be broken down naturally by microbes in a composting environment within 180 days.
SHIPPING MAILERS
We ship most orders in biodegradable shipping mailers. When you receive your order you can reuse this mailer to ship an item, return an item, use it as a composting bag itself, or simply put it in your home compost bin along with your food scraps and green waste. These mailers are certified home compostable and will be broken down naturally by microbes in a composting environment within 180 days.
SHIPPING LABELS
We ship all of our orders using biodegradable shipping labels. The adhesive backing is made from 90% renewable materials including plants and natural rubber. These labels are certified industrially compostable and will break down in commercial composting environments.
SHIPPING BOXES
We ship some orders in recyclable corrugated cardboard boxes. These boxes are made of 100% recycled material and 95% post-consumer waste, and are curbside recyclable.
FILLER MATERIAL
When needed, we fill empty space in shipping boxes with biodegradable wheat paper. This paper is made from 80% recycled content and 20% wheat straw (waste from agricultural wheat production), and is recyclable and biodegradable.
PACKING TAPE
We seal our shipping boxes using biodegradable packing tape made from 90% renewable materials. The film is derived from plants and the adhesive is made from natural rubber. This tape is certified industrially compostable and will break down in commercial composting environments.
*Our biodegradable garment bags and shipping mailers are non-toxic and contain no Phthalates, Bisphenol A (BPA) or GMOs. They are made from:
- Corn starch - from corn not fit for consumption
- PLA - Polylactide, made from renewable plant material including corn husks, rice straw, and wheat straw
- PBAT - Polybutyrate Adipate Terephthalate, partly derived from petroleum-based materials. PBAT, which is biodegradable but technically not renewable, is a binding agent that is needed to make the product break down quickly enough to meet home composting requirements. Renewable, 100% bio-based PBAT is currently in research and development. Read more about PBAT here.
